Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And for Him is no fear of its consequences. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
