The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
Almighty God's Truth.
