The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and brightening morning, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
