Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
