The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
