The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
