This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that [so many] learned men from among the children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about bewildered in every valley? 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
