Al-Zukhruf 5 of 7

And indeed We sent Moosa along with Our signs towards Firaun and his chieftains – he therefore said, “Indeed I am a Noble Messenger of the Lord of the Creation.” 46 But when he brought to them Our signs they laughed at them, 47 We showed them Sign after Sign, each greater than its fellow, and We seized them with Punishment, in order that they might turn (to Us). 48 And they said: O magician! call on your Lord for our sake, as He has made the covenant with you; we shall surely be the followers of the right way. 49 But when We removed from them the chastisement, behold, they broke their troth. 50 And Pharaoh proclaimed among his people, saying: "O my people! Does not the dominion of Egypt belong to me, (witness) these streams flowing underneath my (palace)? What! see ye not then? 51 Or am I better than this man, who is contemptible and scarcely makes things clear? 52 Why then have bracelets of gold not been cast on him, or angels not come with him conjoined?' 53 He incited his people to levity and they obeyed him. Surely they were an iniquitous people. 54 So when they vexed Us, We took vengeance on them, and We drowned them all. 55 We made them a precedent, an example for later peoples. 56
