The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
