The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
