In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HA MIM. 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book whose verses have been detailed, an Arabic Qur'an for a people who know, 3 A herald of good news and a warner, but most of them turn aside so they hear not. 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
