And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much. (See the Quran Verse 35:45). 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 Had He wanted, He could have stopped the wind and let the ships remain motionless on the surface of the sea, in this there is evidence (of the Truth) for all those who are patient and grateful, 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 those who dispute Our signs shall learn that they have no escape. 35 Now whatever ye have been given is but a passing comfort for the life of the world, and that which Allah hath is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord, 36 And those who avoid the major sins and indecencies and, when angered, forgive; 37 who have pledged their obedience to the Lord, who are steadfast in prayer, who conduct their affairs with consultation among themselves, who spend for the cause of God out of what We have given them, 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 And the recompense of evil is punishment like it, but whoever forgives and amends, he shall have his reward from Allah; surely He does not love the unjust. 40 There is no blame against him who avenges himself after he has been wronged. 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. 43
