۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
