The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
