The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the stinters; 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
