The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
