Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 By the manifest Book (that makes things clear, i.e. this Quran). 2 We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. 3 It is inscribed in the original Book (of Books) with Us, sublime, dispenser of (all) laws. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the ancients. 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of the men of old hath gone (before them). 8 If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will answer: "The Mighty and All-knowing created them," 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 And, (it is He) who has created all the pairs and appointed for you ships and the cattle on which you ride, 12 That ye mount firmly on the backs thereof, and then may remember the favour of your Lord when ye mount thereon, and may say: hallowed be He Who hath subjected this unto us, and we for it were not fit. 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
