Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a lofty garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 nor any food save the filth 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
