The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
