Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 In which are high thrones. 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
