The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
