He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fearfully, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 lofty and pure, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
