WITH ALL THIS, man [often] says, "What! Once I am dead, shall I again be brought forth alive?" 66 But does man not bear in mind that We have created him aforetime out of nothing? 67 By thy Lord, then, We shall surely gather them and the satans; thereafter We shall surely bring them round Hell, kneeling. 68 Then We shall pluck forth from every party whichever of them was the most hardened in disdain of the All-merciful; 69 Moreover, We well know those who most deserve to be burned in hell. 70 And not one of you but shall pass over it: it is for thy Lord an ordinance decreed. 71 Then We shall rescue those who kept from evil, and leave the evil-doers crouching there. 72 When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, the Unbelievers say to those who believe, "Which of the two sides is best in point of position? Which makes the best show in council?" 73 We have destroyed so many generations before them, who surpassed them in material power and splendour. 74 Say: "If any men go astray, (Allah) Most Gracious extends (the rope) to them, until, when they see the warning of Allah (being fulfilled) - either in punishment or in (the approach of) the Hour,- they will at length realise who is worst in position, and (who) weakest in forces! 75 "And Allah doth advance in guidance those who seek guidance: and the things that endure, Good Deeds, are best in the sight of thy Lord, as rewards, and best in respect of (their) eventual return." 76 Then, have you seen he who disbelieved in Our verses and said, "I will surely be given wealth and children [in the next life]?" 77 Has he gained knowledge of the Unseen? Or taken a covenant with the Merciful? 78 Never so. We shall certainly write down what he says, and prolong the extent of his punishment. 79 And We shall inherit from him that whereof he spake, and he shall come to us alone. 80 For [such as] these have taken to worshipping deities other than God, hoping that they would be a [source of] strength for them. 81 But they shall reject their worship and turn against them. 82
