The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 for they are bent on giving it the lie, being always wont to follow their own desires. Yet everything reveals its truth in the end. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
