The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
