Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 and raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
