Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the (particular) dawn. 1 And ten nights, 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 And by oath of the night when it recedes 4 Is there in that an oath for the mindful? 5 Hast thou not seen how thy Lord did with Ad, 6 the people of the huge columned city of Eram 7 the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? 8 And (with) Thamud (people), who cut (hewed) out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)? 9 And with Firaun, who used to crucify. 10 Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands, 11 And multiplied therein corruption. 12 Thy Lord unloosed on them a scourge of chastisement; 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!" 16 By no means! But ye honour not the orphan, 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak, 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 Nay! when the earth is made to crumble to pieces, 21 And when the command of your Lord comes and the angels row by row, 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" 24 Upon that day none shall chastise as He chastises, 25 None bindeth as He then will bind. 26 'O soul at peace, 27 Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure! 28 And enter among My [righteous] servants 29 "And enter you My Paradise!" 30
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
