The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
