The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 and extended shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
