Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 'And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblis (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allah that which was wrong and not right. 4 And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah: 5 But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness; 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames. 8 and that “we would take up stations in the heaven to try to hear but anyone who now attempts to listen finds a shooting meteor in wait for him”; 9 and that “we do not know whether evil is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends to direct them to the Right Way”; 10 Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. 11 And that we know that we cannot escape Allah in the earth, nor can we escape Him by flight: 12 Now that we have listened to the guidance, we believe in it. Whoever believes in his Lord does not need to fear loss or oppression. 13 and that “among us some are Muslims (Those who have submitted to Allah), and some of us are deviant. So those who became Muslims found the Right Course; 14 ‘And as for the unjust – they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 Would they but go straight on the way, We would give them to drink of water copious, 16 In order to try them through it. But whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, will be given increasing torment by Him." 17 And [know] that all worship is due to God [alone]: hence, do not invoke anyone side by side with God! 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
