Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
