Believers, obey God and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him now that you have heard all. 20 And do not be like those who say, "We have heard," while they do not hear. 21 ۞ Surely the worst of beasts in God's sight are those that are deaf and dumb and do not understand. 22 For, if God had seen any good in them, He would certainly have made them hear: but [as it is,] even if He had made them hear, they would surely have turned away in their obstinacy. 23 Believers, obey God and the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. Know that God stands between man and his heart, and you shall all be gathered in His presence. 24 Guard yourselves against discord among yourselves so that it will not mislead anyone of you, especially the unjust, and know that God's retribution is most severe. 25 Remember, when you were few and powerless in the land, afraid of despoliation at the hands of men. But then God sheltered and helped you to strength, and provided for you good things that you may perhaps be grateful. 26 O you who believe, do not be faithless to God and His Apostle, nor violate your trusts knowingly. 27 and know that your worldly goods and your children are but a trial and a temptation, and that with God there is a tremendous reward. 28
