And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
