Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 In a clear Arabic language. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 and then they will say: 'Shall we be respited' 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 What do you see? If We gave them enjoyment for years, 205 And then there cometh unto them that which they had been promised. 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 and reminded: for, never do We wrong [anyone]. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged*; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned**. (* The Muslim poets who praise Allah and the Prophet. ** The disbelievers will be punished.) 227
