The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Woe to every scorner and mocker 1 who amasses wealth, counting it over, 2 Does he think that his wealth will prolong his stay on earth forever? 3 Nay, but [in the life to come such as] he shall indeed be abandoned to crushing torment! 4 And what can make you know what is the Crusher? 5 It is a Fire kindled by God. 6 to penetrate into the hearts. 7 Indeed it will be shut over them. 8 In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.). 9

God Almighty has spoken the truth.
