Lot's nation, belied their Messengers. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 I am for you an honest Messenger. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 Lord, save me and my family from their deeds." 169 So We saved him and his whole family 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
