۞ O men! It is you who stand in need of God -- God is self-sufficient, and praiseworthy -- 15 if He so wished, He could take you away and replace you with a new creation; 16 And that is not hard for Allah. 17 And a bearer of burthen will not bear another's burthen, and if one heavy-laden calleth for his load, naught thereof will be borne although he be of kin. Thou canst warn only those who fear their Lord, unseen, and establish prayer. And whosoever becometh clean becometh clean only for himself; and unto Allah is the return. 18 And the blind and the sighted are not equal! 19 Neither darknesses and light, 20 The shade and the hot wind are not equal, 21 And not equal are the living and the dead! Indeed Allah causes them to listen*, whomever He wills; and you cannot make those who are in the graves** listen. (* Listen to guidance **The disbelievers are referred to as dead, whose fates are sealed.) 22 You are purely a Herald of Warning. 23 Surely We have sent thee with the truth good tidings to bear, and warning; not a nation there is, but there has passed away in it a warner. 24 If they reject you, (know that) others who lived before them had also rejected their Messengers, Messengers who had brought them miracles, scriptures, and the enlightening Book 25 but in the end I seized those who were bent on denying the truth and how terrible was My punishment. 26
