The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 facing one another. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and shade extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
