Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Most Auspicious is He in Whose control is the entire kingship; and He is Able to do all things. 1 who created death and life that He might examine which of you is best in deeds, and He is the Almighty, the Forgiving, 2 Who created the seven heavens one above another; you see no incongruity in the creation of the Beneficent Allah; then look again, can you see any disorder? 3 Then look again and yet again, thy sight will return unto thee weakened and made dim. 4 We have adorned the lowest sky with lamps, and made them missiles against the devils, for whom We have prepared a torment of most intense fire. 5 And for those who disbelieved in their Lord, is the punishment of hell; and what a wretched outcome! 6 When they are cast into it, they will hear it roar and raging 7 Well-nigh it bursteth with rage. So oft as a company is cast thereinto, the keepers thereof will ask them: came there not unto you a warner? 8 They will say: yea! surely there came a warner unto us, but we belied, and said: God hath not sent down aught, we are naught but in a great error. 9 They will further say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we should not (now) be among the Companions of the Blazing Fire!" 10 And they will admit their sin, so [it is] alienation for the companions of the Blaze. 11 As for those who fear their Lord in the unseen will have forgiveness and a rich reward. 12 (Whether you) speak in secret or aloud, He knows the innermost of the chests. 13 Can He who has created not know (His creation)? He is all-penetrating, all-aware. 14
