He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
