The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 Verily We have created man into toil and hardship. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 a tongue, and two lips, 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 It is the setting free of a slave 13 or the feeding in times of famine 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 Then he became of those who believed and enjoined on each other steadfastness and enjoined on each other compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 The Fire will vault them over. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
