The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
