The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
