The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
