Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Verily We! We sent Nuh unto his people saying: warn thy people ere there come unto them torment afflictive. 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 Worship Allah, and fear Him, and obey me. 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. 7 Then I called them loudly and more openly, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, 10 "'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 seeing He created you by stages? 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. 18 And Allah hath made the earth unto you an expanse. 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
