The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
