He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
