The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
