The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
