A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and follow no friends other than He; little do you remember. 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 And when Our punishment overtook them they had nothing to say except crying out: "We have indeed been sinners." 5 Then surely, We shall question those (people) to whom it (the Book) was sent and verily, We shall question the Messengers. 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 And true will be the weighing on that Day; and those whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance - it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state; 8 and those whose good deeds are light [in the balance] will be the ones who have lost themselves because they wrongfully rejected Our signs. 9 And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful. 10
